This is mainly because Indian Software Industry has always been stuck with legacy technology, and it gives me pleasure when I hear that Indians are breaking boundary and trying out new stuff.

The reason for old technologies in India could be that, Indian Software companies(patni, infy, tcs, wipro) has mainly focused toward service type of project. These projects mainly include maintenance and support work. Obviously chances of getting support work for new technology will be very rare.

To support my thoughts I did a simple research on current job scenario in Indian software industry. I simple search of Job offers based on various technical skill. I did search on naukari.com(a popular job search engine in India) and monster.com. The findings of the research are below.

India Job Scenario

US Job Scenario

Learnings

The smaller Pie for ROR was obvious but the catch here is the difference. In case of US, ROR is more than 10% of PHP, whereas in case of India it is just around 2.7%.

Companies working with ROR in India

I have discussed a lot about Indian Software Scenario, Lets come to main point here. Currently, the INDIAN side of Rails is a small community, but growing at a rapid rate. In near future we expect a larger community from India. Recently I've came across a decent compilation of companies working on Rails.
